What are the benefits/incentives to my community for participating?

Community engagement in research is increasingly recognized as an essential strategy for assuring the connection between researchers and the public. Relationships between researchers and communities have often been successfully forged at the individual level.

Will there be compensation for time and/or travel?

The neighborhood/community organization that is participating in the study will have this information. In addition, as a research participant, you will be asked to read and sign what is called an Informed Consent. The Informed Consent will provide you with details about the study, including any compensation for participation or travel.

What about risks or complications from participating?

Qualified participants will be informed of known benefits and risks by the neighborhood/community organization. The Informed Consent will also provide you with information about possible risks and the benefits of the study.
