I. GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Design and Data Resource Center (DDRC) at the Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute (Tufts CTSI) is seeking an outstanding epidemiologist for a faculty–level position in clinical research methodology. This position is part of the DDRC, a team of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and research methodologists that provides assistance, guidance, and mentoring to clinical researchers in the development of meritorious and innovative grants, protocols and projects.
This person will have opportunities to collaborate with junior faculty in the development of research protocols and grants; to participate in a wide range of multidisciplinary research projects; and to supervise students, residents, and fellows, as appropriate. Specific areas of assistance offered by the DDRC include development of specific aims, study and experimental design, analysis plans, power and sample size calculations, scientific review and editing of proposals, protocol development and editing, human research and IRB requirements, and development of data and safety monitoring plans. This position also involves teaching seminars in clinical research methods at Tufts-affiliated hospitals, as well as the opportunity to teach graduate courses in our MS/PhD Clinical and Translational Science program at the Tufts University Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibility is to facilitate clinical research initiatives across all departments and divisions at Tufts University, Tufts Medical Center and affiliated hospitals. This person, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, will be responsible for assisting clinical and translational researchers in the creation of novel research protocols. Responsibilities also include teaching and mentoring trainees and junior faculty at Tufts Medical Center as well as supervising master’s level DDRC staff.
III. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Candidates should have a doctorate in epidemiology or equivalent degree. Applicants should have strong oral and written communication skills, experience in grant preparation, and interest and aptitude in teaching and mentoring. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
